As our final assignment in Interactive Design for Museums class, each group was assigned a monument from the Historic House Trust of New York. Our team got the famous Poe Cottage in the Bronx, where Edgar Allan Poe spent the last years of his life.
We were tasked with pitching a proposal to redesign the experience in the cottage.
Our proposal entailed 4 parts:
A social media-based engagement tool that is comprised of a series of competitions open to the public, encouraging participants to create media (Photos, poems, etc.) The goal was to attract both local audience and tourists.
Events in the cottage itself, announcing the winners of the competitions.
Projecting a social feed at night, from the cottage to the street. The goal of the projection is to attract attention and provide information when the cottage is closed.
In addition, we completely redesigned the existing website, focusing on an easy experience and clear information.
